UPDATE: CHBC is currently not offering birthing services. I will provide an update if the birth center reopens in the future.

Why You Should Choose Chapel Hill Birth Center
Prenatal Care
Every mother has her own unique birth story. That’s why the Women’s Birth and Wellness Center offers an unparalleled level of care, individualized for your unique needs. Your prenatal appointments include a one-hour initial visit, half-hour prenatal visits with education, and a full medical history assessment. Additional community group prenatal visits are available on a drop-in basis for those who can’t commit to the above schedule. Also, there is a suite where the midwives and CNM nurses meet you in a calm, relaxing environment to address any questions or concerns you may have during this exciting time of your life. The goal of the center is to make every visit as pleasant as possible so that the expecting mom will feel confident in trusting doulas with the most significant day of her life—her child’s birth!
Classes at WBWC
All classes are now held via Zoom. This means you get all the knowledge and support you need from the comfort of your own home. The prenatal and parenting classes are designed to provide education in a supportive environment with other expectant parents. Classes include breastfeeding techniques and feeding, baby care essentials including car seat safety, crib safety, sleep safety, bathing and diapering techniques, playtime activities, and much more!
Lactation
The WBWC is committed to providing our community with high-quality lactation services that are accessible, affordable, and culturally competent. You may choose between one-on-one consultations, breastfeeding support groups, and classes to help local moms and babies at your convenience.
Cost of Labor at Chapel Hill Birth Center
Chapel Hill Birth Center is accredited by the Commission for the Accreditation of Birth Centers (CABC). CABC accreditation means it meets national standards for safety, comfort, and convenience. The center is also licensed by the State of North Carolina as a freestanding birthing facility.
They accept a variety of insurance plans, including Medicaid. Many uninsured patients can be cared for through a hospital-sponsored program or by using the tiered fee schedule. In both cases, the services of the birth center are available at nominal rates and without a time limit. A payment plan and lab discounts are also offered to keep patients as low as possible.
Primary Care
At Women’s Birth and Wellness Center, you will be provided with personalized healthcare services focused on you. The importance of supporting the whole family and helping with all forms of women’s health needs, including pregnancy, menopause, and transgender care, is the priority of the center. Through a gentle approach to care, the staff strives to make all patients feel included and comfortable during their appointment.
